ALTARS

Paintings, book, & video installations , 2025-2026

Altars is a series of works that combine gestural abstraction with restrained, graphic structures. The compositions reference the visual language of personal smart devices, including screens, interfaces, and data fields, rendered in a deliberately vague and imperfect manner, as if drawn by a primitive hand. Limited palettes and rigid frameworks contain expressive marks, with drips falling like barcodes and painted steel washers suggesting an ever-present eye that points to a system of consumption, surveillance, and control.

These works reflect my interest in how personal technology functions as a vessel for emotional projection, particularly rage and fatigue, while simultaneously shaping and manipulating behavior within late capitalism. The works hold this contradiction in place, compressing human impulse within minimalist, system-driven forms.
